Yes, the virus that causes COVID-19 is approximately 0.125 micron (125 nanometers) in diameter. It falls squarely within the particle-size range that HEPA filters capture with extraordinary efficiency: 0.01 micron (10 nanometers) and above. Many media outlets have incorrectly stated that HEPA filters don’t filter below 0.3 micron and therefore could not capture airborne coronaviruses. That is flat wrong. NOT NEARLY. Or shields are made from either .030 PETG or .060 PETG. It's MUCH thicher and more durable than any sode bottle. Oh yea, our shields are not ribbed or grooved either. The BAT QUARTER shows how thick our material is. It 6x thicker than most drinking bottles.

We thermoform our PETG domed to protect the forehead of the caregiver or worker. Sometimes droplets, debris and even blood or vomit can enter through the top of a standard face shield. Ours are one piece of PETG so they are more secure. Of course, with enough matter or force, anything can get inside any shield.

Yes, it's a modified version of the PRUSA 3D generic face shield frame. We use it upside down, and have made it easier to cast. We do not 3D print our frames. The material is SKIN SAFE flexible resin.
